To wife Elizabeth, use of plantation, tracts 'Martins Freehold, "Liverpool Point," Haw Point," Verino" and part of "Thomas's Choice for 19 years and for life if she does not marry and use of 6 negroes, 2 horses and all household furniture except what is given later, during life and all stock.
To youngest son Daniel Courts, the above lands at end of 19 years if wife marry, if not to have possession at her death, but if she die before 19 years is up above lands to be sold and money equally divided between my 2 sons John Courts and Robert Henly Courts, also to son Daniel Courts, Negro boy Daniel, Negro girl Bett, Negro Sail and Negro Lydia.
To son John Courts, Negroes: Clem, Abraham, Tom, Monica, Peg and a boy Moses; a gun.
To son Robert Henly Courts, Negroes: Sam, Latiford, Suck, Charity, Henney, Rose; silver table spoons.
To son George Courts, Negroesj Roger, Phill, Calia, Charles, Hannah and David; plus half of negroes to be given at wife's death.
To dau. Ann Courts, Negroes: a Negro woman Bess, Jenny, Casey, Lucy and Anthony, and other half of negroes given wife at her death.
My Executor at my death to convey to James Briscoe tract "Crouch's Gift" upon payment of purchase money and interest.
Wife and Executor to have care of my children if wife marry, Executor to take charge of children, their estates and to educate them.

ROBERT HENLEY COURTS was a planter and owned 892 acres of land in Charles County, Maryland. He served in the Lower House from 1770 until 1774.
Robert Henley Courts (son of John & Elizabeth Courts) was of prime importance to this research project because of his son George Washington Courts. Robert Henley Courts (Sr) married Elizabeth Ridings in Charles County. They both died testate in Charles County; Robert's will wr. 1775, and Elizabeth testate 1779. Their children named in both wills were, Daniel, John, Robert Henley Courts, Jr. Dau. Ann, son George Washington Courts, [he does not mention a dau. Elizabeth, however the will of his widow mentions "dau. Betsey."]. Robert Henley Courts was born ca. 1700-1710. The prime interest was for all possible data on his son George Washington Courts, due to an existing Bible and varied reports on George Washington Courts.
[A John Courts was living Fairfax Co, VA. 1787, thought to be son of Robert and brother to George W. (Census of 1787).]
