John Courts served as a member of the Lower House of the General Assembly in 1722 until 1747. On October 1, 1700, John Courts was granted a 700 acre tract of land known as Clean Drinking on the west side of Rock Creek in Charles County, Maryland. In his will, Colonel John Courts left Clean Drinking to his son, John Courts who sold it to Charles Jones, the husband of Elizabeth Courts, daughter of John Courts. In 1750, Charles Jones built the home known as the Clean Drinking Manor. Clean Drinking was subsequently in Prince George's County, Maryland. From 1748 until 1776 it was located in Frederick County, Maryland. Since 1776 it has been in Montgomery County, Maryland.

Col. John Courts, son of John & Charity Henley Courts, born Charles County Mar 3, 1691 married Elizabeth Yeats, dau. of Robert Yeates of the British Army. Their children were:

The death of John Courts is recorded in the Maryland Gazette: "John Courts died in Charles County, for many years a Representative for that County. He died of pleurisy after having recovered from same many times. issue Feb. 3, 1748." John3 Courts will written 16 Jan. 1747, Charles County, names wife Elizabeth, son William, son John to have "Clean Drinking," son Robert Henley Courts, dau. Ann, dau. Charity Adams, dau. Mary Ann Martine, dau. Elizabeth Jones, and brother Charles Courts. [Dau. Elizabeth married Judge Charles Jones of Clean Drinking.] When John Court was a mere 30 years of age he became a member of the Lower House of the General Assembly which met Oct. 9th at Annapolis, he being one of the Delegates from Charles County.

John Courts served as a member of the Lower House of the General Assembly in 1722 until 1747. On October 1, 1700, John Courts was granted a 700 acre tract of land known as Clean Drinking on the west side of Rock Creek in Charles County, Maryland. In his will, Colonel John Courts left Clean Drinking to his son, John Courts who sold it to Charles Jones, the husband of Elizabeth Courts, daughter of John Courts. In 1750, Charles Jones built the home known as the Clean Drinking Manor. Clean Drinking was subsequently in Prince George's County, Maryland. From 1748 until 1776 it was located in Frederick County, Maryland. Since 1776 it has been in Montgomery County, Maryland.

The death of John Courts is recorded in the Maryland Gazette: "John Courts died in Charles County, for many years a Representative for that County. He died of pleurisy after having recovered from same many times. issue Feb. 3, 1748." John3 Courts will written 16 Jan. 1747, Charles County, names wife Elizabeth, son William, son John to have "Clean Drinking," son Robert Henley Courts, dau. Ann, dau. Charity Adams, dau. Mary Ann Martine, dau. Elizabeth Jones, and brother Charles Courts. [Dau. Elizabeth married Judge Charles Jones of Clean Drinking.] When John Court was a mere 30 years of age he became a member of the Lower House of the General Assembly which met Oct. 9th at Annapolis, he being one of the Delegates from Charles County.
