Death
Betty Lou Barker, 79, of Veedersburg passed away at 2:34 p.m. Friday Aug. 25, 2017, at Wellbrooke Health and Wellness Center, Crawfordsville, with her family at her side. Betty was born Oct. 10, 1937, at Veedersburg, the daughter of Lloyd R. and Lillian A. (Booe) Furr. She married Bobby G. Barker on Oct. 21, 1955, at Veedersburg. Surviving family include: husband Bobby G. Barker, Veedersburg; daughter Katrina (Tom) Bowling, Crawfordsville; son Randy (Beth) Barker, Veedersburg; brother Don (Claudia) Furr, Veedersburg; three grandchildren, Chera Bowling, Marlana (Keith) Spencer and Darin (Ashley) Bowling; six great-grandchildren, Lexie Allen, Jake Bowling, Will Harmon, Brady and Delaney Spencer and Gavin Bowling. She is preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Bob Furr and Wayne Furr. Betty graduated from Veedersburg High School in 1955, where she participated as a high school cheerleader. Through the years she had been employed at the Bus Station, Grab-it-Here, Star Market, Subway and Sale Barn, all in Veedersburg. Throughout her life she had attended church and her faith in God was an important part of her life. She enjoyed baking cakes and watching afternoon soap operas. Private family services were held at Dickerson Funeral Home, Veedersburg with Pastor Gary Johnson officiating. Burial followed the service at Rockfield Cemetery near Veedersburg.
