Mr. and Mrs. Bob Furr of Veedersburg, Ind., will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with an open house from 2-4 p.m. EST Dec. 12, at the D’Arlier Center in Veedersburg. Their children are sponsoring the event. Furr and Amy Foley were married Dec. 11, 1954, in Covington, Ind. Justice of the Peace Hazel Hatton performed the ceremony. Bob retired from Hyster NACCO in 2001. Amy retired from Radio Materials in 2001. They have three children, Bobby (Annette) Furr of Crawfordsville, Ind., Lisa (Ray) Ligocki of Oakwood and Lezlie Furr of Danville. They also have five grandsons. The couple requests no gifts, but cards are welcome.Death
Robert Furr, 78, of Veedersburg, Ind., died 11:20 a.m. EDT Tuesday, June 9, 2009, at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. Robert was born May 6, 1931, in Veedersburg, the son of Lloyd R. and Lillian A. (Booe) Furr. He married Amy Foley on Dec. 11, 1954, in Covington, Ind. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Wayne Furr. Survivors include his wife, Amy Furr of Veedersburg; a son, Robert W. “Bobby” Furr (wife Annette) of Crawfordsville; two daughters, Lisa Ligocki (husband Ray) of Oakwood, Ill., and Lezlie Furr of Danville, Ill.; a brother, Donald Furr (wife Claudia) of Veedersburg; a sister, Betty Barker (husband Bob) of Veedersburg; a sister-in-law, Patsy Furr of Lafayette; three grandchildren, twins Lee and Lance Ligocki of Oakwood and Tanner Furr of Danville, Ill.; two step-great-grandchildren, Greg Rusk (wife Heather) of Washington, Ill., and Scott Rusk of Peoria, Ill.; two step-great-great-grandchildren, twins Hanna and Taylor Rusk of Washington, Ill.; and several nieces and nephews. Robert attended Veedersburg High School and later graduated from Fountain Central High School with a GED and Utterback Brown Business College. He was employed at NACCO Hyster in Danville and retired in 2001 after 33 years of service. He also was employed by Helger’s Vending in Mellott for 17 years. He enjoyed the local restaurants and visiting with his many friends. He also enjoyed watching I.U. basketball, wrestling and John Wayne movies. Funeral service will be 11:30 a.m. EDT Friday, June 12, 2009, at Dickerson Funeral Home in Veedersburg with the Rev. Gary Johnson officiating. Interment will be at Rockfield Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. EDT Thursday, June 11, 2009, at the funeral home.
