Death
Mary Belle Furr Tenney, 76, a resident of Mansfield Addition, Philippi, passed away Friday, June 23, 2006, in Talbott Personal Care Home at Belington. She was born Nov. 21, 1929, at Cassity, a daughter of the late John and Rachael (Vance) Furr. She was united in marriage Feb. 21, 1949, to Lowell Junior Tenney, who preceded her in death Oct. 11, 1998. Surviving are two daughters, Ann and husband, Hayward McGee, of Elk City community, Philippi, and Pam and husband, Skip Burner, of Philippi; two sisters, Glenda Yokum of Buckhannon and Sandy and Joe Miller of Philippi; three brothers, Darrell and wife, Pauline Furr, of Nevada, Donald and Bobbie Furr and James and Barbara Furr, both of Ohio; two sisters-in-law, Patty and Berry Taylor of Elkins and Jan and Tom Collins of Conway, S.C.; two brothers-in-law, Robert and Nancy Tenney of Sidney, Ohio, and Don Tenney of Buckhannon; two grandchildren, Bill and wife, Ellen Knight, of Philippi and Olen and Christy Burner of Flemington; four great-grandchildren, Lori and Will Knight and Taylor and Gavin Burner. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Dayton Furr, Clayton Furr and Sonny Furr; and one granddaughter, Lori Ann Knight. Mrs. Tenney was a homemaker and in earlier years owned and operated Mary’s Threads. Mrs. Tenney was a member of the Barbour County Country Club, Barbour County Women’s Bowling Association and a member of Mt. Vernon United Methodist Church. Friends were received at Wright Funeral Home at 216 N. Walnut St. in Philippi Sunday and today from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., the service hour, with Speaker Robert “Buck” True and the Rev. Linda Payton officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Vernon Memorial Cemetery. Wright Funeral Home services.Endnotes
