Richwood Driver Dies in Smashup
Richwood, Aug. 14 (RNS) -- Dayton Keith Furr, 22, of Richwood was killed instantly at 11:45 p.m. Wednesday when his car went out of control and plunged over a 5-foot embankment. State Trooper John F. Wayne said it appeared Furr was driving at a high rate of speed because his car knocked down a utility pole. The accident occurred about four miles west of Summensville on W. Va. 39. The car was demolished. Furr was employed by the Donegan Coal and Coke Co. at Richwood and was a member of the Moose Club. Survivors include his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Furr of Richmond; three sisters, Sandra, at home, and Mrs. Marybelle Tenney and Mrs. Glenda Yokam, both of Bucknannon, and five brothers, Leon, Darrell, Donald and Jimmy, all at home, and Clayton, serving with the Navy. The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday in the White and Coleman Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Don L. Jackson in charge. Burial will be in Mountain View Memorial Park in Richwood. The body will remain at the funeral home.
