LEXINGTON — Dorothy (Furr) Showalter, 75, died Saturday (Feb. 15, 1997) at Stonewall Jackson Hospital in Lexington. She was the widow of Dr. Charles Light Showalter. She was born on Oct. 31, 1921, at Rockbridge County, a daughter of Dorsey DeWitt and Cora Bell (Tolley) Furr. She was a member of Timber Ridge Old Stone Presbyterian Church and a retired school teacher. Surviving are three sons, Richard Light of Beckley, W.Va., and Charles DeWitt and Edward Galen Showalter, both of Lexington; a brother, John D. Furr of Lexington; and six grandchildren. A service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday at Harrison Funeral Chapel by the Revs. Daniel Malcolm and John Ward with burial at Stonewall Jackson Cemetery, Lexington. The family will receive friends from 3-5 this afternoon at the Timber Ridge Church Community Building, Lexington. Memorials may be made to Timber Ridge Presbyterian Church or the National Parkinson Foundation, 1501 N.W. Ninth Ave./Bob Hope Road, Miami, Fla. 33136.
