Death
LEXINGTON — John DeWitt Furr, 84, died Saturday (Nov. 17, 2001) at the Stonewall Jackson Hospital. He was born in Rockbridge County Nov. 16, 1917, a son of Dorsie DeWitt and Cora Belle Tolley Furr. He was a member of the Lexington Presbyterian Church and was the owner and operator of Rockbridge Roller Mill for many years. He was preceded in death by his sister, Dorothy Furr Showalter. Survivors include two nephews, Charles D. and Edward G. Showalter, both of Lexington, and a special friend, C.R. Wilhelm of Lexington. A service will be conducted 2 p.m. Tuesday at Harrison Funeral Chapel by Dr. William Klein with burial in Stonewall Jackson Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Lexington First Aid Crew.
