Death
Mildred “Millie” Furr, 83, of Fowler, died at 10:35 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 3, 2000, in Green Hill Manor Nursing Home in Fowler. Mrs. Furr worked at Brown Rubber Co. in Lafayette and also at the NuJoy Restaurant in Kentland as a waitress. She was past treasurer and a stockholder of Tribune Showprint Inc. in Earl Park. Born May 26, 1917 in Gilboa Township, she graduated from Gilboa High School in 1936. She lived in Florida for three years then returned to Indiana because of her health. She married Arvel A. Furr on May 26, 1945, in Tangier, Ind. He died March 3, 1997. Mrs. Furr was a member of Fowler United Methodist Church and a member and in 1956 served as president of the American Legion Auxiliary in Fowler. Her hobby was oil painting scenery and flowers, and for several years she donated her paintings to the Earl Park Fall Festival. Surviving are a son, Johnny Dean Furr (wife: Louise) of Boswell; and a brother, Marion C. Lester (wife: Helen) of Springfield, Mo.Journal and Courier, Lafayette, Indiana, October 5, 2000
