Death
Johnny Dean Furr, 76, of Boswell, died, Monday, July 10, 2023. He was born September 15, 1946, in Lafayette, to the late Arvel A. & Mildred June (Lester) Furr. He married, Louise (Rhodes) Furr, October 11, 1970, at the Boswell Methodist Church, in Boswell; she survives. He was a 1964 graduate of Fowler High School. Johnny was a Vietnam Veteran, serving, as a Sergeant, in the United States Marine Corps, from 1967 until 1969. He was a member of the Pine Village Masonic Lodge No. 315, Scottish Rite Valley of Terre Haute, Boswell American Legion Post #476 & the 40/8 Voiture 755. Johnny enjoyed fishing, hunting, target shooting, piddling in his shed, traveling & Purdue Sports. He was a very proud Marine & loved attending the 1st Marine Division Reunions & the 3/5 Marines Reunions. He had the privilege to be chosen for the Honor Flight to Washington D.C., in April 2015. It allowed him a chance to relive his service to his country & be recognized for serving. Surviving with his Wife, Louise Furr, are a Son, Brian Furr (Fiancé, Ashlee Amick), Son-in-Law, Bill Hyndman & Grandson, Will Hyndman. He is preceded in death by his Daughter, Renee Furr Hyndman & Granddaughter, Alexandria Hyndman. Visitation to Celebrate Johnny's Life will be Monday, July 17, 2023, from 4-7 PM, with Masonic Services at 7PM, at the Boswell Free Methodist Church, 402 S. Old US Highway 41, Boswell. Funeral Celebration will, at 10 AM, Tuesday, July 18, 2023, at the Boswell Free Methodist Church with Pastor Bethany Abbott & Pastor Gary Sims officiating. Casual attire is requested by Johnny's Family. Burial will be at the Boswell Cemetery with Military Honors by the United States Marines & the Boswell American Legion Post #476. In Lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions may be made to the Boswell Free Methodist Church. Shoemaker Funeral Home, Otterbein, is assisting Johnny's Family.Endnotes
