Marriage
Mr. Floyd F. Furr and Miss Margaret Dove Fix, two popular residents of East Lexington neighborhood, were married in Staunton last Wednesday by Rev. O. F. Gregory. They boarded the Baltimore and Ohio train at East Lexington Wednesday and after the marriage went to the home of the groom's father,near Verona in Augusta county, where they will make their home. The bride is quite attractive and the daughter of Mr. J. J. Fix of East Lexington. Mr. Furr, formerly connected with Furr Brothers of the Rockbridge Roller Mills, retired from that business the first of the year and is now engaged in farming in Augusta county.
Death
WAYNESBORO — Mrs. Margaret Dove Furr, 89, of 411 Thirteenth St. died at 2:25 a.m. Saturday (Jan. 14, 1978) at her home. Mrs. Furr was born in Rockbridge County Sept. 15, 1888, a daughter of James and Lucinda (Neff) Fixx. Her husband, Floyd Franklin Furr, died Jan. 19, 1947. She was a member of First Baptist Church, and Auxiliary Post 2424, and the Goodwill Club of Waynesboro. She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Louise Neff Glenn of 411 Thirteenth St.,with whom she made her home; two sons, James E. of Waynesboro and Richard C. Furr of Leesburg, Fla.; one sister, Mrs. Loula F. Snow of Waynesboro; three grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and a number of of nieces and nephews. A funeral will be conducted 2 p.m. Monday in the chapel of Etter Funeral Home, by Dr. Ronald W. Higdon, with burial in Riverview Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Paul and Kenneth Cleveland, Joel Fixx, Clemmer Coyner, Jim Hammer, Dan Stubbs, Robert Morris and Leslie Harper.
