Death

Murray Lee Furr, 60, of Rt. 4, Saunton, died in King’s Daughters’ Hospital at 4:15 a.m. Sunday (Sept. 2, 1984) following a lengthy illness. He was born in Augusta County on March 26, 1924, a son of Edgar M. and Julia (Mahone) Furr. Furr was employed by Hershey Chocolate Co. in Stuarts Draft as a security guard and was a member of Olivet Presbyterian Church. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Bessie (Truslow) Furr; one brother, Paul C. Furr of Fishersville; a number of nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles. A service will be conducted 11 a.m. Wednesday in Olivet Presbyterian Church by the Rev. L. Eugene Jordan. Burial will follow in Augusta Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be William Leach, Chester Monroe, N. Kyle Foster, Joseph E. and Charles L. Furr and Charles H. Varner Jr. The family will receive friends in Henry Funeral Home from 7-8:30 tonight and at other times at the residence. The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society, Staunton-West Augusta County unit, in care of Mrs. E.C. Dillman, Rt. 1, Box 15, Fort Defiance, Va. 24437
