Death

Edgar Murray Furr, Rt. 1, Fishersville Augusta County farmer, died at 12:25 this morning (April 17, 1964) in the King's Daughters’ Hospital where he had been a patient for a week. A native of Augusta County, he was born Aug. 7, 1896 a son of the late Lee W. and Nelia F. Desper Furr. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Julian Mahone Furr; three sons, Elwood H. Furr, Rt. 3, Staunton, Paul C. Furr, Fishersville and Murray L. Furr, Rt. 3, Staunton; one brother, Erskine Furr, Staunton and two sisters, Mrs. Lacy Dull, Waynesboro and Mrs. Charles Varner, Rt. 1, Staunton; also 10 grandchildren and five great grandchildren. A funeral service will be held at eleven o'clock Monday morning (April 20, 1964) in the Memorial Chapel of the Fred Henry Funeral Home, The service will be conducted by Rev. Robert Lawrence. Burial will be in Thornrose Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be the following nephews: Charles Furr, Joseph Furr, John Varner, Charles Varner Jr., Raymond Dull and William Simmons; honorary, Frank Bocock, Jessie T. Shorter, N. Kyle Foster, A. K. Halterman, J. F. Tinsley, Charles M. Brown Sr., Allen D. Thompson, Robert Bocock Jr., Graham M. Berry and Percy Zimbro. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday night from 7 to 8 o'clock.
