Death
Erskine Madison Furr, 83, of 1041 Selma Blvd., died at 4:55 a.m. Thursday (May 31, 1984) at his residence. He was born on Feb, 27, 1901 in Augusta County, a son of the late Lee W. and Neila (Desper) Furr. Mr. Furr was a farmer and livestock dealer all of his life. He was a member and trustee of Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Julia Catherine (Dull) Furr; two sons, Charles L. Furr of Rt. 2, Staunton, and Joseph E. Furr of Star Rt. B, Staunton; two sisters, Mrs. Charles H. (Dorothy) Varner Sr. of Rt. 1, Staunton, and Mrs.Lacey (Mabel) Dull of Waynesboro; four grandchildren, Miss Lucinda Catherine Furr, Miss Angela Ingram Furr, Joshua Erskine Furr and Mrs. Denton (Susan) Jordan; three great-grandchildren, Brian M. Jordan, Jason S.Jordan and Daniel L. Jordan. A service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday in Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church by the Rev.Kenneth A. Price. Burial will be in Thornrose Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Stuart H.C. Cochran, Lacey A. Link, Bowman B. Link, Harry W. Payne, Hayden Mays, Meredith E. Yeago, H. Fred Boehling and Richard G. Cox. Honorary pallbearers will be Thomas W. Small, J. BrownHanger, Joel W. Hamilton, J Kemper Croft, French M. Croft, E.M. Hewitt Sr., E.M. Hewitt Jr., Clay E. Hewitt, H.R. Fauber, B.H. Wade Jr., Peck Thomas, Richard E. Huff, Harry B, Fauver, Fay W. Riddle, David L. Bocock, D.F. Cash Sr. and Lee Stover. The family will receive friends from 7 until 9 p.m. today in the Henry Funeral Home. It is suggested that those desiring may make memorial donations to Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church, 2607 N.
