Death

Mildred "Polly" Thompson, age 89 of Westfield, Indiana died October 31, 2015 at her daughter's residence. Mrs. Thompson worked with her husband in several restaurants and also helped him sell Electrolux vacuum cleaners in Crawfordsville. When she moved to Noblesville to live with her daughter, she worked at Wendy's Restaurant for 7 years and then retired. She moved to Sanders Glen Assistive Living in Westfield in 2008. While living in Crawfordsville, she was a member of Woodland Heights Christian Church, then at Central Christian Church in Carmel, and then Victory Baptist Church in Noblesville. She was born May 23, 1926 in Tippecanoe County to Frank F. Furr and Nellie Mae Walser. She married Robert L. Thompson on February 12, 1950 at Wingate, Indiana. He is deceased. Surviving are 5 sons, Steve (Jean), Ric (Marcie), Mike (Debbie), Keith, and Dave, and one daughter, Karen Smeltzer (Jim). She had 17 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by 6 brothers (Lloyd, Lawrence, Charles, Gerald, Dale, and Virgil), 4 sisters (Lois Johnson, Opal Furr, Beulah Lightle, and Mary Thompson-Chesney), and one grandchild. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 4, 2015 at Family & Friends Funeral Home of Wingate, with Lucian Robinson officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home from 1:00p.m. until the service. Burial will be in Masonic North Cemetery in Crawfordsville, Indiana. Memorial gifts may be made to Shepherd Center of Hamilton County.
