Death
KILLED BY DICK GLASS.Son of the Notorious Outlaw Stands to be Hung.
A letter from Checotah states that on Saturday of last week Dick Glass, son of the notorious Dick Glass, killed some years ago by a party of men under the leadership of Sam Sixkiller, Charley McClellan being among them, shot Albert Furr, living six miles from Checotah, so seriously that be died in a few hours. A few days before Glass and another negro were driving six head of cattle past Furr's place and he, believing they were stolen, made a trade for them, putting off payment for a few days. Furr soon found the owner, a man named Thompson, who drove the cattle home and was at Furr's house, in hiding, the day Glass and his partner were to have come for the money. They did not come that day but waited until the next, and when Furr and his hired man tried to arrest them, Saturday last, they shot him with the result stated. Officers were soon on Glass' trail and in effecting his arrest he was shot in the leg. He is now in the jail hospital at Muskogee.

"Kid Glass, I wish I could hang you. You deserve it. It is a great pity for the community that when Stiles shot your leg off it was not just below the ear instead of where it is." The above words were addressed by Judge Thomas to as vicious looking brute as ever stood before the bar of justice. He should have been hung years ago but he lived to kill Albert Furr, an old cattleman west of Cbecotah. He shot Furr in the back, and Stiles, another cattleman, took a shot at Glass and got one of his legs. There was a compromise made up somehow and his crime fixed at manslaughter, and Glass got ten yeara at hard labor and was fined $1,000. The father of Kid Glass was Dick Glass, a notorious character who was an outlaw and roamed over northern Texas. He was finally caught and executed. --Muskogee Times.
