Death
Judia Ann Gilbert, one of Henryetta’s very earliest residents, died Wednesday afternoon in a local hospital at the age of ninety-seven. The neice (sic) of Hugh Henry, founder of Henryetta, Mrs. Gilbert had made her home in the vicinity of Henryetta for the past 90 years and had been a member of the First Christian Church here for 30 years. In her lifetime, she recalld (sic) numerous first events such as the fact that she lived in Eufaula at the time that the first passenger train passed through there in about 1870. The long - time resident was the wife of Henryetta’s first Postmaster, Albert Furr Sr., who ran the Furr Post Office and Trading Post, which was located four miles South of where Henryetta is now. She is survived by three sons, Sam Furr, Lubbock, Teas, Arthur Furr, Kansas City, Missouri, and Ben Furr, Henryetta; two daughters, Mayme Oliver, and Jeneira Madden, both of Henryetta; twelve grandchildren; a number of great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Friday at 2:00 p.m. in the First Christian Church with Rev. Jack Nicholson conducting the service and interment will be in Westlawn cemelery.
