Death

Attica - Donald William Furr, 77, formerly of Attica and had been residing in Lafayette, passed away at his residence on Friday, October 25, 2013, at 5:20 a.m. following a brief illness. Donald was born near Mellott, in Fountain County, Indiana, on October 5, 1936. He was the son of the late Donald Paul and Esther Ann (Cook) Furr. He has lived most of his life in and around Newtown and Mellott. Donald attended Richland Township School. Donald formerly worked for 35 years as a carpenter at National Homes in Lafayette. Donald grew up attending the Baptist Church in Newtown. He enjoyed collecting Franklin Mint model cars. He was formerly married to Ormal Lorene Verhey. She preceded him in death on November 2, 2011. Donald leaves behind three children, Donnie B. Furr, Cindy S. (Brett) Daniel and Paul L. Furr, all of Lafayette; two brothers, Marvin (Ruth) Furr, Attica and Terrel (Rita) Furr, Kingman; three sisters, Carolyn (Ron) Coffing, Crawfordsville; Janice Shaw-Query, Crawfordsville and Sharon Davis, Wheatland, CA; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a sister, Beverly Furr and an infant brother, Norman Dean Furr. Donald selected cremation as his choice of service. A celebration of his life will be held at a later date.
