Death

SOUTH BEND - Eleanor K. Rectenwal, 84, passed away on Tuesday, July 22, 2008, at 9:30 a.m. in St. Joseph Regional Medical Center. Eleanor was born on February 16, 1924 in Veedersburg, IN, to the late Omer E. and Gladys R. (Boggs) Furr. On September 14, 1956, she married Richard A. Rectenwal Sr. in Hudson Lake, IN, and he passed away on December 11, 1991. She was also preceded in death by sisters, Helen Furr and Evelyn Marr; and brothers, Eugene and James Furr. She is survived by to sons, Richard A. (Diana) Rectenwal Jr. of South Bend and Rex E. (Lynne) Rectenwal of South Bend; eight grandchildren, Elizabeth, Richard III, Dylan, Kristina, Alexander, Elliot, Jonathon and Caroline; niece, Suzy Andrysiak; nephews, Peter Marr, Jim Furr and Bill Furr; and numerous great nieces and nephews. Eleanor was a member of First Christian Church. She graduated from Indiana Business College and worked at Koehler Insurance Agency. Family get-togethers were important to her and singing young children to sleep was a specialty. Her dedication to family was evident, taking care of her mother and aunt for many years in her own home which was always open to anyone in need. A memorial service will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Monday, July 28 in ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Rod. Inurnment will take place at a later date at St. Joseph Cemetery, South Bend. Memorial contributions may be made to the "Outreach Fund" at First Christian Church, 1101 E. Jefferson Blvd., South Bend, IN 46617.
