In the lonely, lovely landscape of the Whiteflat Cemetery, graveside services were held for Norman Glen Spray at 2 p.m., Wednesday, October 18, 2017. Born October 10, 1930 in Whiteflat, he died October 9, 2017 in Fort Worth.
Norman graduated from Matador High School in 1948. A journalist for the Times Picayune in New Orleans, La. while a student at Tulane University from which he graduated, Norman was a born writer. He published his first article before graduation from high school and continued witting his entire life. Even after his “retirement”, he wrote articles for a publication for recreational vehicle enthusiasts as he visited spots from one U.S. coast to the other. Always active of mind and spirit, he also wrote a novel during these years.
Eldest son of Jack and Rosa Spray, lifetime residents of Motley County, Norman was hailed, among his most intimate family members, as the most kind, most loving and most gentle, supportive and understanding in any and every crisis.
He is survived by his present wife, Jimmie and her family, by his daughters, Rhonda Kurtzman and husband Gary and his three sons; Misty Meyer and husband Jay and his two children and Sandy Reisch and husband Jim and their five children. He is also survived by one brother and his wife, Mr. And Mrs. Billy Jack Spray and one sister, Geney Spray Stan and several nieces and nephews.
Norman was laid to rest by Barbara, his wife of more than 50 years, and as the wind blows across this familiar red earth, we say a sad goodbye to a man who enriched the life of all who knew him.
