Ralph Gustavis Brantley

Ralph G. Brantley, 75, of Rolla, Passed away Friday, May 12, 2000, at his home in Rolla. He was born on May 26, 1924, at Crossett, Ark., to Thomas Fulton Brantley, Sr., and Anna Holimon Brantley. He was preceded in death by parents, two brothers, Walter and Edmond, and three sisters, Mary, Margaret and Bill.
Mr. Brantley was an Air Force Veteran of World War II where he served as a crew member and transport mechanic flying "The Hump" between India and Burma. He was discharged in 1946. On Aug. 11, 1946, he was united in marriage to Evelyn Witt at Rawls Community Church in Rawls, Ark. He received a bachelor's degree in agriculture from the University of Arkansas in 1950 and taught vocational agriculture for seven years at Gould and Eudora, Ark. In 1958, he began working for the University Extension Center and was first employed at the Oregon County, Mo., office as a balanced farming agent. Mr. Brantley received his master's degree in agricultural management from the University of Missouri in Columbia in 1965. He received a disability retirement from the Dent County University Extension office in 1978. He was affiliated with the Salem Avenue Baptist Church in Rolla and a member of the Rolla VFW Post No. 2025.
Ralph Brantley is survived by his wife, Evelyn Brantley, of Rolla; three children, James Ralph Brantley, of Rolla, Barbara Lynn Bailey, of Yorktown, Va., Richard E. Brantley and wife, Cynthia, of Springfield, Mo., three grandchildren, Jefferson Brantley Bailey, Brian Hammersley Bailey and Megan Leigh Brantley; two brothers, Thomas Fulton Brantley Jr., of Zachary, La., and Louis Carlton Brantley, of Baton Rouge, La.; two sisters, Lois Jeanette Lane, of San Antonio, Texas, and Mollie Thomas, of Cove Ark., and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, May 15, 2000, at Kordes Funeral Home with the Reverend Kevin Payne officiating. Burial will be in Ozark Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today, Sunday, May 14, 2000, at Kordes Funeral Home in Rolla.
