Note1888Anthony was taken into care as a State ward with brothers Thomas & David on the 10 Sep 1888 for being “neglected”. Their admission records note that their mother was dead & father Simon was in Melbourne Hospital. He was initially fostered out to a Mary James in Castlemaine & subsequently to a Mrs Miller in the same town. On 9 Feb 1895 he began to be “licensed” (bonded labour) to various employers & was finally released 17 Feb 1900 at the age of 18
