The Northern Star (Lismore) on 22 Apr 1925 included the following description of his death: " Mr. Thomas Knight, aged 79, died suddenly at 8am yesterday while engaged in sawing wood at the residence of his son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Knight, of Woodlawn. Deceased after breakfast, played with his grandchild for a few minutes and then remarked that he would go out and saw some wood. About two minutes after his daughter-in-law heard him groaning as if in pain and sent to a neighbour's house for help. On their arrival Mr. Knight, senr., was found apparently dead lying by the wood pile" - Woodlawn, Lismore, New South Wales, Australia
