Individual Details
(9 Sep 1805 - 24 Aug 1876)
"Mother died here this a.m. No new disease came upon her; but the wear and tear of seventy years of active usefulness in the world, had exhausted the forces of Nature. Her strong faith robbed Death of its sting, and the confidence with which she looked forward to a better sphere, softens for us the pangs of separation. We go with her remains to Brattleboro, tomorrow; and on Saturday shall deposit them by the side of father's. All the children are here excepting Elinor and Larkin, who will meet us in Brattleboro. I think the last letter Mother wrote, was one she sent to you..." (Charles L. Mead, Scotch Plains, NJ, to RBH, Aug. 24, 1876).
