Death

STANFIELD -- Charlie Hilbert Furr, 74, of 206 Union Street, died Wednesday May 12, 2004, at his home. The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Indian Hill Presbyterian Church. The Rev. Rick Brundin will officiate. Burial will be at the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at Hartsell Funeral Home, Midland. At other times they will be at the home, 206 Union Street, Stanfield. Born July 23, 1929, in Stanly County, he was the son of the late Floyd Furr and Zula Y. Drye Furr. He worked at Cannon Mills for 25 years in the Finishing Department and was a member of Indian Hill Presbyterian Church. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Peggy Eason and Bright Bain and a step-daughter, Peggy Jean Bright. Survivors include his wife, Lucille Morgan Furr of the home; two sisters, Novella Love of Mount Pleasant and Frances Kerley of China Grove; three step-sons, JW Morgan, LD Morgan and Ollen Morgan, all of Stanfield; 10 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Stanly County, 960 N. First Street, Albemarle, N.C. Hartsell Funeral Home of Midland is in charge of arrangements. Independent Tribune, May 13, 2004
