Death

Helen Furr Hathcock, 78, of the Cottonville Community, Norwood NC passed away Friday, January 8, 2016 in Stanly Regional Medical Center. Her funeral service will be 3 PM Sunday, January, 10, 2016 at Cottonville Baptist Church with Rev. Alex Willoughby officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at Stanly Funeral Home on Saturday evening from 5 until 7 PM. Born August 7, 1937 in Stanly County, NC, Mrs. Hathcock was the daughter of the late Allen C. Furr and Carrie Huneycutt Furr and was a homemaker. Mrs. Hathcock is survived by her husband Burl W. Hathcock of the home. Other survivors include son Greg Hathcock and wife Pam of Seymour, TN, daughter Julie Batten and husband Joey of Albemarle, four brothers: Horace Furr of Albemarle, Wayne Furr of Albemarle, Calvin Furr of N. Myrtle Beach and Boyd Furr of Albemarle, two sisters: Ruby Rummage of Albemarle, Evola Thompson of Norwood, and four grandchildren: Bradley Batten, Rusty Batten, Anna Hathcock, and Ethan Hathcock. A sister, Brenda Hill, preceded her in death. The family requests that memorials be made to Cottonville Baptist Church, 4888 Plank Rd., Norwood, NC 28128.
