Death

Roger Lee Furr, 57, of W-44 Mountainview Dr., died Sunday at 7:30 a.m. in Cherokee Memorial Hospital. A native of Cherokee County, he was the son of Mrs. Ella McKinney Furr of Blacksburg and the late Sam Baxter Furr, a retired painter, a veteran of: World War II and of the Baptist faith. Surviving are one sister, Mrs. Mabel Moore of Blacksburg. Graveside services will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Oakland Cemetery conducted by Rev. Herman Thomas. Pallbearers will be Roger Downey, Johnny George, Donald Painter, Everett and Kirk Reynolds and Jackie Stanford. Body is at the home of the mother, Mrs. Ella Furr, W-44 Mountainview Dr. Gordon’s Funeral Home.
