Death
Chester, April 15 — (Special) — Sam Baxter Furr, 46, died last night at his home following a long illness. He was a veteran of World War I. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Annie Helms Furr and two children; Pvt. Baxter Eugene Furr of Camp Blanding, Fla.; Sam Furr, Jr, of Chester; mother, Mrs. Lula Wilson and step-father, John Wilson of Lowrys; a step-sister, Mrs. Lilian Perry of Chester; a brother, Charlie Furr of Lancaster; step-brother, Palmer Wilson of Chester; step-sister, Mrs. Flonnie Huffman of Inman. Funeral services will be conducted at the Second Baptist church at 3:30 Sunday afternoon, after which the interment will be made in Evergreen cemetery. The Rev. William Asbury Tinsley, will officiate. Mr. Furr was for many years an employee of the Eureka plant of the Springs cotton mills.
