Individual Details

Jacob FURR

(1785 - 1870)

According to Clyde M. Furr, sometime before 1816, three brothers (Christian, Henry, and Jacob) "came out of Georgia, through Alabama, and across part of Mississippi. Each had a wife and an ox. Each had his worldly possessions in a Hogshead (barrel) with a pole run through it, and with shafts attached and pulled by his ox. I have been told that they spent months, and possibly more than one year, in transit."

In 1816, Jacob Furr took deed to the Randle Furr place on Little Bahala Creek in Lincoln County, 10 miles east of Brookhaven, Mississippi. In 1850, Jacob Furr, age 65, was living with Henry Jacob Furr in Lawrence County, Mississippi.
