Death
Fred 0. Furr, 91, of Santa Paula, died Sunday in a Santa Paula hospital after a long illness. Mr. Furr was born Jan, 23, 1900, in Camden, Ark., and had been a 61-year county resident, coming from Texas. He retired in 1965, having worked at the Naval Construction Battalion Center, Port Hueneme, for 24 years. He is survived by wife Donleta; daughter Bessie Lovin of Santa Paula; sons Roy of Oxnard, Brian of Salinas, and Bill of Douglas, Ariz.; brothers Henry and Harvey, both of Dallas, Texas; sisters Nell Vaughn, Edith Bethea and Freida Mooney, all of Arkansas; eight grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. Friends may call from 1 to 8 tonight at the Skillin-Carrol Mortuary, Santa Paula. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the mortuary.
