Death
Jerry "Brian" Furr, 85, of Visalia, passed away Monday, Feb. 17, 2014. He was surrounded by his wife, children and grandchildren when he passed into Heaven. He was born June 23, 1928 in Ennis, TX, to Fred and Donleta Furr. Brian grew up in Ventura County and graduated from Santa Paula High School. As a young man, he attended Santa Paula Foursquare Church. He was a truck driver for A.M. Lewis for 25 years in Northridge and for GraniteRock in Salinas until retirement. Brian attended both Oak Park Community Church and Salinas Valley Community Church during his years in Salinas. After moving to Visalia, he attended Visalia First Assembly of God. Brian was very much loved and admired as a husband, father, grandpa and great-grandpa. He never met a stranger and was liked by everyone he met. Brian was our gentle giant. He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Bettie; his brother, Bill (Stella) Furr; his sister, Bessie Lovin; his children, Elizabeth Stern, Jacqueline (John) Daries, Sandi (Jim) Trindell, and Steven (Fran) Johnson; six grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. He will be greatly missed. A private family gathering will be held at a later date to celebrate his life.The Salinas Californian, Salinas, California, March 7, 2014
