Notes
Death
Bill Furr passed away quietly at home on January 13, 2025. He is survived by his wife Stella of 72 years, his two children Mike (Ellen) and Lillian, his grandson Gabriel (Adriane), and his three great-grandchildren Luka, Briar, and Owen. He is preceded in death by his siblings: Brian, RL, Bessie, and two of his grandchildren: Daniel and Travis. Bill was born in Ventura California in 1931, and his career goals were always in law enforcement. He was an MP in the Korean War and later worked for Phelps Dodge until he was hired as a policeman in Douglas, Arizona. After Bill retired from Douglas PD (for all of one week), he was hired on with Arizona State Corrections in Douglas. He was a lifelong member of the Fraternal Order of Police and is a Korean war veteran. Bill was always very easygoing and soft-spoken; and enjoyed relaxing in the quiet time of the occasional fishing trip. His primary hobby was woodworking, he was a pitcher for the Douglas Police softball team, enjoyed camping and traveling to his son’s and grandson’s various motorcycle races in Arizona, California, Nevada, and Mexico. He and Stella loved to camp at the racing pits and had a great time with Mike’s racing buddies. After living in Tucson for many years, Bill and Stella moved to Flagstaff to be closer to family, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Bill had a full and wonderful life and will be missed by all of his family and friends; including his part-time caregiver, Larissa. There will be a quiet gathering of friends and family this summer at the Arizona Veterans Memorial Cemetary at Camp Navajo. No date has been set.Endnotes
