Death
Lois Honeycutt Smith , 82 NEW LONDON -- Mrs. Smith, of 40608 Old Salisbury Rd., died Saturday, April 12, 2008. Funeral service is 11:00 AM, Tuesday, April 15, 2008 at Hillside Baptist Church with Rev. Steve Jackson and Rev. Mike McLellan. Visitation will be tonight from 6:00 - 8:00 PM at Stanly Funeral Home, where the body will remain until taken to the church to lie in state 30 mins. prior to the hour of service. Mrs. Smith was born February 13, 1926 in Cabarrus County, NC and was the daughter of the late Riley Hugh and Mamie Furr Honeycutt. She was married to the late Rev. Curtis H. Smith who preceded her in death September 17, 2005. She was educated at A.T. Allen School and was a retired employee of Wisscassett Mills Co. Mrs. Smith was a member of Hillside Baptist Church for over 48 years. She was also a Sunday School Teacher, Bible School Coordinator and a member of the Choir as well as a member of the Hillside Family Singers. In addition, she loved gardening and canning. Survivors include 2 sons, Sherrill Smith and wife, Denise of Albemarle, Mitchel Smith and wife, Lynda of Albemarle; 1 daughter, Carolyn Dunn and husband, Buddy of Albemarle; 4 brothers, Rev. Marvin Honeycutt, R.H. Honeycutt and A.P. Honeycutt, all of Concord and Coy Honeycutt of Conway, SC; a sister, Letha Smith of Oakboro; 8 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. The family wishes to extend special thanks to the nurses and staff of the Spark Unit at Britthaven and to Dianne for the love and care extended. Memorials may be made to Hillside Baptist Church Building Fund, 810 McArthur Street, Albemarle, NC 28001. Stanly Funeral Home is in charge.Endnotes
