Death
KANNAPOLIS - Katherin M. Furr Morton, 81, of 1911 Lane St., died Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2008, at CMC-NorthEast. There will be a graveside service at 3 p.m. Friday at Carolina Memorial Park, Kannapolis. The family will receive friends from 1 to 3 p.m. Friday at Whitley's Funeral Home Annex Building. Mrs. Morton was born Jan. 14, 1927, in Cabarrus County, the daughter of the late Charles Furr and the late Emma Brown Poston. Katherin was a lifelong area resident. She was educated in Kannapolis City Schools, graduating from Cannon High School. She was coordinator for Cabarrus County Private Duty Registry and then director of Cabarrus Home Health Care until her retirement in 1989 after 30 years of service. She was a member of the American Legion Women's Auxiliary in Concord. Katherin was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She will be deeply missed. She was preceded in death by her husband, J.C. Morton, who died in 1973. Survivors include her husband, Charles N. Campbell of the home; son, Mike Morton Sr. and wife, Phyllis, of Kannapolis; daughter, Becky Morton of Kannapolis; grandchildren, Michael Morton Jr. DDS of Kannapolis and Jennifer McGuire of Concord; eight great-grandchildren; brother, Eural Furr of Austin, Texas, Bois Furr and Ken Furr, both of Concord; sister, Sue Garner of Greensboro; and she was Nanny to Maggie and Wesley Johnson of Concord. The family headquarters will be at the home of her son, Mike Morton Sr., 404 N. Ridge Ave., Kannapolis, NC 28083.
