Death
CONCORD Mr. Lewis Kenneth "Ken" Furr, 81, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 13, 2016, at CMC-Northeast. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Friday (tonight) at Wilkinson Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, at Branchview First Church of God, with the Rev. Roger Hamilton officiating. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. Mr. Furr was a son to the late Charles A. Furr and Emma Brown Furr Poston. He was also preceded in death by a son-in-law, Eddie Wiseman; one sister, Meb Morton; and a brother, Bois Furr. Ken served our country as a paratrooper in the Army Airborne. He retired as a dedicated driver with Food Lion. He was an active member of Branchview First Church of God, the Gideons and Noon Optimist. Ken enjoyed playing golf with his buddies and spending time with his family. Surviving Ken are his faithful wife, Gladys Williams Furr; daughters, Patti Furr of Charlotte, Debbie Wiseman of Kannapolis and Kim Dennis and husband, Terry of Concord; grandson, Courtney Wiseman; sister, Sue Gardner of Greensboro; brother, Eural Furr and wife, Elsie of Austin, Texas; and many nieces and nephews. Ken will especially be missed by his loving and faithful canine companion, Malachi.
