Death
MOORESVILLE - Mr. Adam Leburn Furr, age 79, passed away Saturday, Dec. 27, 2008 at Tucker Hospice House of Cabarrus County. The family will receive friends Monday from 5 to 7 p.m. at Wilkinson Funeral Home in Concord. A graveside service for family and friends will be held Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at Carolina Memorial Park. A memorial service will also be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Centre Presbyterian Church in Mooresville of which he was a member. The services will be conducted by Reverend Tracie Stewart. The family will receive friends following the service at the church. Mr. Furr was born July 3, 1929 in Cabarrus County, son of the late Adam Paul and Fannie Harwood Furr. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Jack H. Furr and a sister, Maxine Barringer. Adam retired as a truck driver with Akers, and then Ryder PIE Truck Lines. During his retirement, he enjoyed doing part time delivery work for Mooresville Meat Center. He leaves an enduring legacy of his Christian Faith and love of family. He adored his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and no occasion was too small to celebrate. He enjoyed hosting family, friends and neighbors at their home on Lake Norman, and made it a point that no one ever left hungry. He was an avid fisherman, and enjoyed the wildlife in his backyard. Survivors include his wife, Ruby Jean Hatley Furr; daughters Jean Kennedy and husband, Delmar of Concord, Linda Scarbrough and husband, Vance of Greer, SC and Susan Yelton and husband, John of Concord; son, Tom Furr and wife Celia of Wilkesboro, NC; grandchildren, Kristie Kennedy, Adam Furr and wife Jennifer, Emily Hogan and husband Matt, Melissa Scarbrough and Jennifer Scarbrough; great-grandchildren, Wesley and Joshua Furr; brother Everett E. "Sam" Furr and wife Ariel of Asheboro, and brother-in-law Larry Barringer and wife Linda.
