Death
Mable Navy Furr, 79, of Charlotte went to be with her Lord on Thursday, February 11, 1999, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. She was born October 12, 1919, in Charlotte, NC, the daughter of the late Roy Claude Navy and Lillie Dixon Navy. She was predeceased by her husband, John Furr. Mrs. Furr retired from Pelton & Crane in 1982, after 19 years of service. She was an active member of Woodlawn Baptist Church, where she was a member of the Dorcus Sunday School Class and Senior Citizens Group. Mrs. Furr is survived by two sons, Ronald J, Furr of Charlotte and R. Wayne Furr of Winston-Salem, NC; a daughter, Betty F. Humphries, six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one brother, R.C. Navy Jr. of Marietta, GA; and three sisters, Ruby McAnulty, Geraldine Ellis, both of Charlotte, and Marie Castagna of N. Miami Beach, FL. Mable will be remembered by all those who knew her as a loving mother, devoted grandmother, compassionate sister and friend. A special note of gratitude to the ICU and PICU nursing staff at Mercy Hospital for their loving, compassionate care. Funeral service is 2:30 p.m. Sunday, February 14, at Woodlawn Baptist Church with Reverends Earl Pennell and Jim Posey officiating. Interment will follow in Charlotte Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends this evening, from 6-7:30 p.m., at Wilson Funeral Service and thirty minutes prior to the service on Sunday, at the church. Memorials may be made to Woodlawn Baptist Church, 4622 Nations Crossing Road, Charlotte, NC 28217.
