Death

NORWOOD — James Albert Furr, 55, of 171 Kelty Ave., died Friday afternoon in Charlotte Memorial Hospital after a short illness. Funeral services will be 3:30 p.m. Sunday in Calvary Baptist Church, Rt. 2, conducted by the Rev. Ed Eason and Rev. Homer W. Furr. Burial will be in Norwood Cemetery. The family will be at the Lefler Funeral Home tonight from 7 to 9 o'clock. Born July 20, 1922, in Stanly County, he is the son of WD Furr of Norwood, and the late Alma Plyler Furr. He was a retired mechanic. Survivors, besides his father, include his wife, Mrs. Mary Esther Hathcock Furr, six sons, Wade, Larry, James, Kenneth, and Alvie Furr, all of Norwood, and Curtis Furr of Kingsville, Texas, a daughter, Thesa Furr, of the home, five brothers, Leroy and WD Furr of Hampton, Va, Paul Furr of Norwood, Bill Furr of Albemarle and the Rev. Homer W. Furr of Fayetteville, two sisters, Mrs. JD Skinner of Norwood and Mrs. Gertie Creed of Albemarle, and 11 grandchildren.
