Death

Mary Hathcock Hill, 78, of 34872 Lowder Road, New London, died at 7:11 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2004, in Stanly Memorial Hospital. Her funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Freedom Tabernacle Independent Baptist Church in Norwood. The Rev. Bobby Brock and The Rev. Mike Lisk will officiate and burial will be in Norwood Cemetery. Born Oct. 9, 1925, in Porter, Stanly County, she was a daughter of the late William Nelson and Martha Ella Mabry Hathcock and was a boot trimmer for McRae Industries. She was preceded in death by a husband, James Albert Furr, and a sister, Vera Mae Kimrey. Surviving are her husband, Albert Lee Hill of the home; a daughter, Thesa Hill Greene of New London; five sons, Wade, Larry and James Furr, all of Norwood, Curtis Furr of Keller, Texas, and Kenneth Furr of Concord; a sister, Pauline Hill Russell of Fletcher; 16 grandchildren; and 27 great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Hartsell Funeral Home in Albemarle. At other times they will be at her home.
