KANNAPOLIS — Clifford Lee Furr, 75, of Concord Nursing Center, formerly of Centergrove Road, died Friday (June 11, 1993) at Cabarrus Memorial Hospital. He had been in declining health for five years and seriously ill for a year. The funeral will be conducted at 2 pm Sunday at Near the Cross Freewill Baptist Church. Officiating will be the Rev Raymond Davis and the Rev Raymond Ross. Burial will be in West Lawn Memorial Park in China Grove. The body will remain at Lady's Funeral Home until taken to the church at the funeral hour. The family will be at the funeral home from 7 to 8:30 p.m today. Born Dec 3, 1917, in Cabarrus County, he was a son of the late Alonzo and Effie Mae Barbee Miles Furr. He was retired from No 2 weave room of Cannon Mills Plant 1. A charter member of Near the Cross Freewill Baptist Church, he was a veteran of the US Army and served during World War II. His wife, Audrey Mullis Furr, died on Sept 1, 1964. Survivors include a son, Clifford“Pete” Furr of Concord, three daughters, Betty F Rivers of Kernersville, Tennia F Auten of Kannapolis and Jewell F Harrington of Concord, a half brother, Jay Earnhardt of Orlando, Fla , a sister, Anniebell Scarboro of Kannapolis, and seven grandchildren.Military
