KANNAPOLIS — Mrs. Effie Barbee Earnhardt Miles, 77, of 414 E. Universal St., died at 1:40 a. m. Saturday at Cabarrus Memorial Hospital following a serious illness of two weeks. The funeral will be 4 p. m. Monday at Center Grove Lutheran Church where Mrs. Miles was a life-long member. Officiating at the rites will be the Rev. Roy Wise and the Rev. Raymond Ross. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will be at Lady’s Funeral Home today from 7 to 9 p. m. Born in Stanly County, Dec. 7, 1901, she was a daughter of the late Hiram and Elda Eudy Barbee. She was a retired employee of Cannon Mills, Plant 1. Her husband, Jesse W. Miles, died in 1975. Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Annie Dell Scarboro of Kannapolis: three sons, Clifford Furr and Aubrey Earnhardt of Kannapolis and John Earnhardt of Winter Garden, Fla.; a step-daughter, Mrs. Margie Hurlocker of Kannapolis; a sister, Mrs. Dora Fisher of Concord; four brothers, Walter, Lewis and Grady Barbee, all of Concord, and the Rev. Willis Barbee of Asheboro: 16 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
