Death
KANNAPOLIS — Audrey Mullis Furr, 63, of Route 2, Centergrove Road, died at 7 50 p m Saturday in Cabarrus Memorial Hospital following 10 years of declining health and 16 months of serious illness. Funeral services will be conducted in Near the Cross Freewill Baptist Church Monday at 11 am by the Rev Don Greer Burial will be in Westlawn Memorial Park in China Grove. The body will lie in the church for 30 minutes prior to the service. Her family will receive friends at Lady Funeral Home from 7 to 8 30 Sunday night. She was born May 14, 1921, in Cabarrus County to the late William Reece Mullis and Mattie Beaver Mullis. She retired from the No 2 weave room of Cannon Mills plant no 1 due to ill health. She was a member of the women's auxiliary of Near the Cross Freewill Baptist Church. Survivors include her husband, Clifford Lee Fur, three daughters, Mrs Jewell F Harrington and Mrs Tennia F Clark, both of Concord, and Mrs Betty F Rivers of Kernsville, one son, Clifford “Pete” Furr of Concord three brothers, JC Mullis of China Grove, C B and Joe Mullis, both of Kannapolis; two sisters, Mrs Carl (Louise) Ross of Kannapolis and Mrs Katle Goodman of Taylorsville, and seven grandchildren.Salisbury Evening Post, Salisbury, North Carolina, September 2, 1984
