Death
Mrs. Ada Furr Simpson, 90, of Monroe, half sister of Roy Helms of Locust, died early Wednesday morning at her home. Funeral services were conducted at 3 p.m. Thursday in Bentons Crossroad Baptist Church. Rev. Ollis Revels and Rev. Vance Edwards officiated and interment was in Monroe City Cemetery. Mrs. Simpson, a retired school teacher, was born July 27, 1897, in Union County and was a daughter of the late C. Mack and Dora Presson Furr. Her husband, Huey C. Simpson, preceded her in death in 1960, and a daughter; Mrs. Bennie Iverson, in 1951. In addition to Mr. Helms, she is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Myrtle McGee of Monroe, a half sister, Mrs. Frank Tucker of Monroe; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.Stanly News and Press, Albemarle, North Carolina, May 6, 1988
