Death

Myrtle S. McGee MONROE -- Mrs. McGee, 82, died Sunday, January 18, 2004 at Union Regional Medical Center. Mrs. McGee was born July 30, 1921 in Union County, daughter of the late H. C. and Ada Mac Furr Simpson, and was also preceded in death by a sister, Bennie S. Iverson. Myrtle was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She loved her family, church and community. Through the years she was involved in WMU and Youth Missions, taught an adult Sunday school class and enjoyed numerous community activities. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Tuesday at Benton's Cross Roads Baptist Church, with Reverend Lee Davis and Reverend Ollis Revels officiating. Interment will follow in Lakeland Memorial Park. Survivors include her husband, Martin L. McGee of the home; three daughters, Pamela M. and husband, Reginald B. Carriker of Monroe, NC, Robin M. and husband, Mark A. Barbee of Locust, NC, and Debra M. and husband Gary L. Stegall of Monroe, NC; and five grandchildren, Kylen M. and wife, Delia Carriker, Cortni R. Carriker, Brian A. Barbee, Justin M. Barbee, and Garrison T. Stegall. Memorials may be made to Benton's Cross Roads Baptist Church, 109 Lawyers Road East, Monroe, NC 28110. McEwen Funeral Home of Monroe is serving the family of Mrs. McGee.
