Death

ALBEMARLE — Clara Furr Herrin Connell, 87, of 527 E. South St. died Saturday night at Stanly Memorial Hospital. The funeral will be Tuesday at 4 p.m. at Bear Creek Primitive Baptist Church, conducted by Elder Ted Morton, the Rev. George Grisson, the Rev. Charles Bowers and the Rev. Marvin H. Honeycutt. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will be at Hartsell Funeral Home in Albemarle tonight from 7 to 9, and the rest of the time at the home of a daughter, Pauline Hatley of 620 Coble Ave. Born Aug. 21, 1900, in Stanly County, she was a daughter of the late Riley and Meggie Eudy Furr. A homemaker, she was a member of Ridgecrest Presbyterian Church. Her first husband, Millard Monroe Herrin, and her second husband, Fred J. Connell, preceded her in death. Survivors include four other daughters, Rachel Hinson of Albemarle, Ranelle McLester of Stanfield, Jean Bost of Harrisburg, and Sue Honeycutt of Concord; two brothers, Lonnie Furr of Albemarle and Paul Furr of Mount Pleasant; 21 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and 11 great-great-grandchildren.
