Death
Baxter Grier Furr of Lynbrook Dr., died suddenly Saturday, Dec. 10, 1960 in a local hospital. Mr. Furr was born May 30, 1888 in Rowan County, son of the late Chalmers V. and Isabelle Grier Furr. He was an elder of Third Presbyterian Church and was manager of the shoe department of Brown's Inc. Mr. Furr was formerly with Gilmer-Moore Co,, for 45 years. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Louise Thomas Furr, a step-daughter, Mrs. R. D. Weast of Mount Olive, and a brother, Oscar H. Furr of Hickory. Funeral services will be held at 3 o'clock this afternoon from the Hovis Memorial Chapel. The Rev. Malcolm R. Williamson, his pastor and the Rev/ W. Chester Keller of Selwyn Ave. Presbyterian Church, will officiate, Interment will be in Elmwood Cemetery. Active pallbearers: Marvin Payne, Harold Auten, James McLaughlin, Rosser Farr, Carson Lee and Elbert Carroll.
