Death
Funeral services for Chalmers V. Furr, 75, of 211 Victoria avenue, were conducted this afternoon at 4 o'clock at the home by Rev. E. A. Dillard, pastor of Tenth Avenue Presbyterian church. Burial was made in Elmwood cemetery. Mr. Furr, who died yesterday afternoon at his home, had been in declining health for several years. After moving to Charlotte in 1910, Mr. Furr served on the Mecklenburg board of county commissioners, engaged in the tile and cement business, and was clerk at the Y. M. C. A. here for eight years. He was widely known throughout the county. Acting as pallbearers at the service this afternoon were D. H. Johnston, James F. Kelly, C. L. Keerans, A. K. McLeod, Walter Holbrook and D. Walter Mitchell. Surviving Mr. Furr are his wife, the former Miss Bella Grice; two sons, B. G. Furr, of Charlotte, and O. H. Furr, of Hickory; four brothers, W. B. and C. L. Furr, of Mooresville, J. M. Furr, of Rowan county, and T. G. Furr, of Salisbury; and two sisters, Mrs. A. E. McAulay, of Dayton, Ohio, and Miss Bella Furr, of Mooresville.The Charlotte News, Charlotte, North Carolina, Jun 6, 1935
