Death
The funeral of James William Furr, 25, native of the Rhea's Mill Community in Northwest of McKinney, who died at the McKinney City Hospital Tuesday afternoon, was held at 4 o’clock Thursday afternoon at the Rhea’s Mill Baptist Church, of which the deceased was an active member since boyhood. Rev. Jesse Bolin, Rev. W. S. Milton and Rev. Gideon officiated. Burial followed in the Pecan Grove Cemetery at McKinney under direction of the Massie Funeral Home. Pallbearers were: Woodrow Crim, George Applebee, Glen O’Brien, R. D. Litsford, Warren Rivers, and Ray Farley. Mr. Furr, who was the son of Mr. and Mrs. John A. Furr, Route 4, McKinney, passed away on his 25th birthday after an illness of about a month. He is survived by his parents, his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. J. M. Furr; his wife, who was formerly Miss Alena Herron; one daughter, Barbara Joyce, 18 months old, and a brother, John Raymond Furr, who is in the Army, stationed at Camp Forest, Tennessee. He had been called home on account of his brother's serious illness several, days ago. The deceased was born in the Rhea's Mill Community July 28, 1917 and spent his entire life in that section of the county.The Courier-Gazette, McKinney, Texas, July 30, 1942
