Death
Jacob Astor Furr, 56, of 408 Caisson Drive died Sunday in a local hospital. The funeral will be today at 2 o'clock in the Davison Chapel of the First Baptist Church, Dr. Henry Lyon III officiating. Burial will be in New Live Oak Cemetery. Mr. Furr was a veteran of World War II and had been a resident of Selma for over 20 years being well-known as a U.S. Mail Contractor. He was an active member of the Elks Club. The survivors Include his widow, Mrs. Gladys Harris Furr; two daughters, Mrs. Ned Taylor of Birmingham and Mrs. William A. Greene of Selma; four sisters, Mrs. John Lee Tarver, Mrs. Leon Locke and Mrs. Robert Blankenship, Jr., all of Mobile; Mrs. Leroy McKinley of Chatom; three brothers, John Furr of Chatom, Enoch Furr, Jr. of Wagerville, W. C. Furr of Grove Hill; two granddaughters, Susan and Cindy Greene. Active pallbearers, Cullen Nichols, Raymond Schiffer, James Hardy, Lamar Salter, Thomas Harris and Webb Hughes.Military
