Death

ALBEMARLE — Thurman Wrenn Furr, 76, of 222 N. Eighth St, died early today at his home. The funeral will be held at 11 am Saturday in Hartsell Funeral Home, Lefler Memorial Chapel, Albemarle, conducted by the Rev Paul Starnes. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery. The family will be at the funeral home Friday night from 7 to 9. Memorials may be made to Central United Methodist Church, 172 N. Second St., Albemarle, N.C 28001 or to Surry Community College, Dobson, N C. 27017. Born Nov. 18, 1909, in Stanly County, he was a son of the late Robert Lee and Lula Huneycutt Furr. Retired owner and operator of Furr Concrete Works, he was a member of Central United Methodist Church, where he was a former church school teacher and a member of the board of stewards. Survivors include his wife, Lucille Efird Furr, a daughter, Margaret Shepherd of Dobson; a sister, Ramelle F. Austin of Albemarle, and four grandchildren.
